Before using it for the first time:
Submerge it in boiling water for approximately 10 minutes.
Then, wash it in the washing machine.
Removing the starch allows the fabric to reveal its true texture and significantly improves its absorbency.
You can tumble dry or air dry it:
Tumble drying: provides immediate softness and a pleasant, cloud-like feel.
Air drying: the fabric may feel slightly stiff at first but will become progressively softer and fluffier with use and washing.
It is completely normal for the muslin to shrink slightly after the first few washes; this is a natural part of the fabric’s evolution.
Ideally, wash with a mild liquid detergent.
Avoid fabric softeners, as they reduce absorbency.
To restore absorbency, you can occasionally hand-wash it using a neutral dish soap.
If stubborn stains appear over time, you can boil the cloth for 15 minutes or use an oxygen-based bleach.
